A New Year’s Update from O-Scope Labs
By Oscilloscope
Hey friends,
First off, O-Scope wishes you a very happy new year (we know we’re one week in already, hopefully that’s not past the cutoff). We hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve, and for those who drunkenly made a fool of themselves, we know that you’re very sorry and love you just the same.
With Awards Season and Sundance on the horizon, it’s pretty busy time in the Laboratory, but still, we wanted to catch y’all up on what’s been going on with us.

In Theaters: TCHOUPITOULAS and ONLY THE YOUNG
Our pair of critically-acclaimed year end docs, the Ross Brothers’ TCHOUPITOULAS and Jason Tippet and Elizabeth Mims’ ONLY THE YOUNG, continue their expansion in theaters around the country.
Both movies are refreshing, heartfelt angles on adolescence that we feel very fortunate to be releasing. We urge you to go out and catch them at your local arthouse theater — “they deserve to be seen amidst the Hobbits and Djangos” of this hectic Oscar season.
To find where either movie (or both) is showing near you, visit our website.

Upcoming Home Entertainment Releases: BROOKLYN BROTHERS BEAT THE BEST and HELLO I MUST BE GOING
This month, we’ll be releasing not one but TWO films on DVD: Ryan O’Nan’s musical road-trip comedy BROOKLYN BROTHERS BEAT THE BEST and Sundance darling HELLO I MUST BE GOING, which features a critically-acclaimed and Gotham Award-nominated performance by Melanie Lynskey (of “Two and a Half Men” and “Heavenly Creatures”).
BROOKLYN BROTHERS hits stores tomorrow and HELLO is available January 29th. Both DVDs are up for pre-order on our website.

Digital Releases: BUNOHAN: RETURN TO MURDER, HELLO I MUST BE GOING, and DYING TO DO LETTERMAN
We at O-Scope are fully aware that the future looms upon us, and it’s only a matter of time before the machines rise up and overthrow us feeble humans.
HELLO I MUST BE GOING and our life-affirming documentary DYING TO DO LETTERMAN are available via the internet, cable VOD, and all your new-fangled iGadgets.
Next up, we’re releasing a roundhouse kick to the senses — the gritty martial arts flick BUNOHAN: RETURN TO MURDER. The official Best Foreign Language Oscar entry from Malaysia, we’ll be releasing BUNOHAN: RETURN TO MURDER on digital platforms on February 19th.
You’ll also be able to catch a handful of special screenings of BUNOHAN around the country in March, and if it’s not already coming to a theater near you, Tugg it.

Nicholas Ray needs your help — donate to ACTION! MASTER CLASS WITH NICK RAY
Hot on the heels of WE CAN’T GO HOME AGAIN & DON’T EXPECT TOO MUCH, legendary American auteur Nicholas Ray’s experimental final film and its companion doc by Nick’s wife Susan, ACTION! MASTER CLASS WITH NICK RAY is a new Ray project currently collecting funding via Kickstarter.
As the final film in the Nicholas Ray Centenary Project, ACTION! will stand as a cinematic lesson in filmmaking compiled from Ray’s recorded lectures, interviews, and other audiovisual elements from the Ray archive.
Ray gave you REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, IN A LONELY PLACE, BIGGER THAN LIFE, and a slew of other monumental movies. Ray paved the way for American auteur filmmakers to come. Pledge to the Kickstarter, help bring ACTION! to life, and help Nick Ray’s legacy live on for filmmakers and film lovers to come.
